The ebb and flow of each season is built up, step-by-step, via succinct, one-sentence facts alongside exact dates, thus allowing the reader to feel the ecstasy and the agony (mainly the agony) of their counterpart fans, back in the day. Within the chronology though, seasons and decades are punctuated with a host of quirky facts, strange events, bizarre coincidences and striking statistics, while “Perspective” snippets demonstrate that football is just a game, but life is a whole lot tougher.
