"An authentic and well developed epic fantasy world with lots of heroes to root for and villains to dislike. It reminds me of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’. Prince Magnus certainly gives Joffrey a run for his money!’ LoveReading
"Andrew Beardmore is a fantastic storyteller with a penchant for meticulous details. He crafts a world so humanistically flawed and tremendously intriguing." onlinebookclub.org
Andrew Beardmore’s “The Strains of Malice” is a sweeping and sophisticated debut to ‘The Nessemiah’ series - a historical fantasy that merges human frailty, political intrigue, and cosmic mystery into one masterfully interwoven tale. Rich in atmosphere and brimming with moral complexity, this first instalment lays the groundwork for what promises to be an epic saga of destiny and defiance. In "Cold Sanctuary", the stakes soar to breathtaking new heights. Beardmore’s worldbuilding is masterful, blending historical depth with mythic gravitas. His prose evokes a sense of both grandeur and intimacy, while the moral complexity of his characters stands out; there are no simple heroes or villains here. At its core, “Cold Sanctuary” is a sweeping tale of survival and moral reckoning in a world on the brink of catastrophe. It’s darker, sharper, and more intricate than its predecessor - an unflinching look at how far humanity will go when faith, fear, and empire collide.
